Good habits for healthy life

In this fast moving world, we need to move fast. But for moving fast and remaining extremely active, it's very crucial to keep ourselves healthy every time. Here are some of the very good habits that I follow and till date I have found very much useful and beneficial to health.

  1. Have a health breakfast - Milk (not flavored, but skimmed milk or milk with haldi). One packet of oats (simple or masala).
  2. You can have a heavy lunch (My diet - 4 roties with daal/sabji OR 3 roties with daal/sabji + a small bowl of rice). Eat as much less rice as possible; as rice is a high calorie food. Will not help you if you want to loose weight. My experience is I feel drowziness while working if I have consumed rice.
  3. Dinner - Make it as light as possible. a) 3 roties with daal/sabji OR b) 2-packets of oats OR c) just 2 glasses or milk. This will help you reduce weight. Don't take a heavy dinner, as at night time, you digestion mechanism is not at the best and will add fats to your body.
  4. Ideal time for food - 8-9 AM - Breakfast , 12.30 to 1.30 PM - Lunch , 7.30 to 8.30 PM - dinner
  5. I follow a light walk after having lunch as well as dinner. May be less than 1 km but I always prefer walking after having food. That adds to better digestion.
  6. After waking up in the morning, always do a warm up exercise. That will make your day active. Like yoga, pushups, pullups, jogging, running.
  7. If you go to gym daily, nothing better than that. You can go to gym anytime in the day, just making sure that the lunch/dinner/breakfast time does not clash with it. That is, atleast 1 hour difference should be maintained with breakfast/lunch/dinner timings.
  8. If you take medicines, do not lie down to bed immediately after taking medicines, wait for atleast 10-15 mins after taking medicines, then go to bed.
  9. Do not take medicines  with cold water, that can reduce/lessen the the impact of medicine.
  10. Avoid junk food (burger, pizza, panipuri, etc). That will just give a few mins of taste to your tongue, its not going to help your body in any way.
  11. Try to avoid ice creams. Sometimes (may be once in 20-25 days) should be ok. Because it is a high calorie food.
  12. Take dry fruits in your diet. It's very healthy (cashews, almonds, raisins, figs, etc)
  13. Drink plenty of water. After lunch and dinner, I don't drink water for 1 hour. After that I do drink plenty of water. That helps me keeping my weight in control. Drinking plenty of water after lunch/dinner makes my belly heavy.
  14. Don't sit at one place for hours. Keep moving, may be for any reason but make movements in your body to keep the body active.
  15. Go for regular health checkups atleast once in a year (all with age 30+)
